I Knew This Would Happen

I would get home from a truly excellent tour and once again have to face responsibility for more than being on tour (although there is plenty to deal with on tour, it’s just different and I could probably write a whole essay about it. For now I will spare you…) I have a big pile of things to catch up on, so for now I will keep this very short and some time soon (maybe when the summer is finished?) I will be able to share a bunch of fun things to look at and remember your Corn Potato friends by… And I won’t send an email that only contains upcoming gigs — Here’s the best joke I heard on the tour (thanks to Paul in Hawick): Two wind turbines are in a field. One says to the other, “What kind of music are you into?” The other says, — (scroll to the bottom for the rest of the joke!)

Upcoming gigs! I am happy to report that I will stay quite busy all summer. I am leaving home again soon for a tour with Roochie Toochie & The Ragtime Shepherd Kings, but first I have some shows in Detroit:
– Wednesday, July 13, at St. CeCe’s in Corktown with Lindsay as Corn Potato Duo. 9pm, FREE
– Thursday, July 14, Tunes @ Noon – Concerts in City Hall Park, Corn Potato Duo, 11:30am-1:30pm, 13615 Michigan Ave, Dearborn, MI 48126, FREE
– Thursday, July 14, at Marge’s Bar in Grosse Pointe, with Marge’s Bar Band (Trad Jazz/Swing) 7-10pm, FREE!
– Sunday, July 17, at PJ’s Lager House in Corktown with Lindsay as Corn Potato Duo, some time between 10am and 2pm, for Crash! Detroit Brass Band Festival brunch
And then we head to Nashville where our Roochie Toochie tour will begin. Full details are on the website but the tour looks a little something like this:

We will also play the showcase at Clifftop and then I’ll be at Galax. After that we may have a show in the Asheville area and then Lindsay and I will have a few days off until the Wilson County Fair. Maybe that’s when I’ll have a chance to write more. In case I don’t I’ll go ahead and tell you that we will appear in Northern Ireland for a show at the Red Room in Cookstown on Tuesday, August 30 and then we are playing at the 25th Annual Appalachian & Bluegrass Music Festival at the Ulster American Folk Park in Omagh. We will head from there to France for some fun time and as soon as we get home we start another Corn Potato tour, starting in the Midwest, including the St. Louis Folk & Roots Festival, ending in Florida. I’m still trying to sort those dates out but they will end up on the website whenever they’re booked.

Before I go, I just have to say something about the tour. I think it was our best tour ever, and it has everything to do with the amazing people who came to our shows, the promoters who put the shows together with us, and all the kind people who hosted us and helped us out along the way. It is truly inspiring for me to see so many wonderful people who share our passion for music and are willing to work so hard to make things happen. A thousand thanks to you all, you know who you are.
